To all you who talkes about how she has no armor, and that it doesnt make any sense because it wont protect her. Well this is a fan art from World of Warcraft. In WoW the look of the armor as well as for how much of your body it covers has no saying in whether it is good armor or not. Its the stats of the armor... that bra right there probably has alot of stamina and shit, which makes it harder to kill her. You never know and also, now a days you get transmog in WoW, so for all we know she is wearing thick leather armor covering all her skins, but its transmogged, so it looks like a bikini. Its magic, in a fantasy game. Shut up about reallity... Just saying.
well realistic practicality aside, don't you ever get tired of seeing leather/metal bikinis? doesn't it bother you that some artists can only think up of the same design over and over again? isn't the lack or creativity also a problem? or the lack of aesthetic responsibility and sensibility? i mean, sometimes it doesn't matter how fantastic or magical the world being portrayed is, some designs really just won't work where they are inappropriate, whether it be clothing, objects, weapons, and environment, no amount of fictional excuses can keep something from looking silly. and it's the responsibility of the artist to keep things good looking.
artists (especially commercial ones) should have restraint and keep things tasteful is all i'm saying.
this piece works though, it's a awfully generic design, but it works.
I do see you're point, of course, and it is a good point that I my self have often thought about. It's just that I didn't like how people got so super insulted by this piece. It's an amazing art piece and I think it's unfair that they blame the artist like that. Artists should have the freedom to design what ever fall in taste for them. Though it is a lot of this in the entertainment industry, and that is somewhat annoying, but I choose not to get upset about it because it's not worth it. TESA the MMO (if you have heard of it) are really bad at this, which made me not want to even touch the game. Though there are some games etc that don't make the female armor all too different from the male ones, like The Elder Scrolls games. But then again, about this piece and why it might work here can be because she is an elf. Elves are often illustrated with light and little armor as they are often more into being fast and light footed. Which is also why Mirthril often are connected to elves, it's light silver but strong as iron. They are good at making armor that are far better than they seem. And elves are also more commonly archers rather than sword fighters, so they wont need much armor if they know their kiting.. : )
